At each of these "festivals", while showcasing a diverse range of works, they also highlight the unique urban character of the local area. The enthusiastic audience not only pays attention to the cutting-edge trends in design, but also enjoys each place with great pleasure. The Southern Europe of Crazy Milan Design Week
Milan Design Week, the world's "Olympics" of furniture design and display, is the most popular global design event in April. During this period, the world's newest designs and classic works will gather in Milan, a city that combines classic and modern. Although it is called "Milan Design Week", the whole city's fervent pursuit of design originates from an official organisation – the Milan International Furniture Fair.
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano (hereinafter referred to as Salone) was originally an annual furniture fair held in Milan, which was founded in 1961 and moved to its current venue in 1972. It has been held annually since that time, with a history of 62 years. In the early 1980s, the concept of the Fuorisalone was born. This series of city-related events saw people spontaneously bringing design from one venue to different areas of the city. The Fuorisalone has since become a significant feature of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile di Milano.
From Brera to 5Vie, neighbourhoods interconnect with each other while exploring the intersections between design and art, fashion, food and technology. The programme includes a variety of events, such as installations, lectures, temporary exhibitions, and flash mobs, which are hosted in a range of venues, including showrooms, galleries, private palaces, and public spaces.
North American residency comes to Boston to feel the design sea breeze
Boston is renowned for its glamour. The "Athens of America" in the heart of Massachusetts has long attracted people to travel and explore for its culture and history. However, the city is now also becoming renowned for its design.
Every year, Boston Design Week awards designers, and this year the ceremony will take place on 3 May. In Boston, the focus on design is always keen. In addition to the city's rich history, today's designers must also be able to anticipate future trends. This is reflected in everything from innovative design to historic design preservation. Boston Design Week also addresses important current social issues in a way that resonates with everyday life. This year, the 11th annual Boston Design Week took place from 23 April to 5 May, with more than 70 design events held throughout the city and surrounding area. The theme was "Designing for the Future - Preserving for the Future," which matched people's specific interests in a variety of specialised areas, including architecture and urban design, landscaping and outdoor living, social impacts, professional concerns, and handmade design. With a salty sea breeze and a mix of modern and classic streets, we were able to pause and swim to experience Boston as it has always been, but as it has always been.
A Talking "City of God" with Latin American Fervour
Lima, the capital of Peru, is known as the "Garden City" of South America due to its year-round sunshine, sea breezes, architecture and flora. The city straddles the north and south banks of the Apurímac River and takes its name from the word "speaking god". Art and design are inextricably linked to Lima's ethos, which is why the Latin America Design Festival (LADFEST), organised on this basis, has become another of the city's calling cards.
The festival's focus on moods and colours has made it a significant event in the design calendar. Each year, new designers and artists, as well as design enthusiasts, descend on the city, making LADFEST a major global event.
